In the ancient Andean culture, females were deemed to be related to the earth while males were related to the sky—the cosmos. Pachamama was the Earth Goddess of the Andean people presiding over planting and harvesting, her shrines are hallowed rocks, or the boles of legendary trees. “Of the Earth” is an on-going series of photographs representing a female bonding with nature and her everlasting power to sustain life on this earth.
