“Quiosco del Bicentenario”. In this piece, I reflect on the deeply polarized election in Peru which took place during the year of our Bicentennial, July 28, 2021. For this work, I use newspapers purchased on the day of and after the Bicentennial, and include phrases, some of them racist and discriminatory that I read on social media during my stay in Perú at that time. I made my quiosco using burlap, newspapers, wooden clothespins and twine. Print size: 6ft x 6ft approx.
